NEW DELHI, July 19 — President Droupadi Murmu departed on a comprehensive three-nation official tour of Europe, covering Moldova, North Macedonia, and Romania. The state visit is designed to deepen bilateral partnerships, elevate trade collaborations, and enhance cultural exchanges between India and the European nations.
High-level delegations representing trade and external affairs are accompanying the President during these diplomatic engagements. Ministry officials asserted that the tour marks a strategic step toward expanding India’s diplomatic footprint in Eastern Europe. Diplomatic statements maintained that the discussions will focus on mutual cooperation in technology, sustainability, and educational ties.
The official state visit features historic diplomatic milestones for India’s foreign relations in the region:
Moldova (20 July): Marks the first-ever visit by an Indian President to the country, featuring delegation-level talks with President Maia Sandu.
North Macedonia (21–22 July): Another historic first for an Indian Head of State, hosted at the invitation of President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.
Romania (23–25 July): The final segment marks India’s first presidential visit to the country in over 30 years, following the last visit in 1994.
According to details released by the Ministry of External Affairs, the tour focuses heavily on advancing cooperation in the following areas:
