Chandigarh, June 11: The Central Bureau of Investigation, working alongside the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Haryana Police, secured the extradition of wanted fugitive Vainket Garg from Georgia to India on Thursday. Officials declared that the accused faces multiple charges in Haryana, including murder, attempt to murder, extortion, organised crime, and the illegal use of firearms.
An escort team from the Haryana Police travelled to Georgia to take custody of the accused following close coordination with international authorities. The team, accompanied by Garg, landed in Delhi on Thursday to resume legal proceedings.
The operation succeeded after the National Central Bureau-New Delhi, acting on a formal request from the Haryana Police, secured an Interpol Red Notice against Garg. Authorities located and apprehended the accused in Georgia, which prompted India to submit a formal extradition request. After completing the necessary legal protocols, the Georgian government approved his return to India.
Garg had previously been arrested during the initial stages of the investigation into his alleged activities. However, after a local court granted him bail, he absconded and left the country in an attempt to evade the law.
Spokespersons affirmed that the successful return of the fugitive underscores the effective collaboration between Indian law enforcement agencies and international partners to ensure legal accountability.
