NEW DELHI, MAY 15 — The aftermath of the CBSE Class 12 results has taken a distressing turn for one student whose story of domestic abuse has gained significant attention online. After recording a 57.4% pass percentage, the student disclosed that their father reacted by smashing their laptop and forcing them to sleep on the floor of their home.
The student’s account on Reddit detailed how their personal space and bed were confiscated as a direct consequence of their grades. The post, accompanied by a photograph of the destroyed laptop, has prompted thousands of users to speak out against the “toxic environment” that often emerges in Indian households during exam cycles.
“Indian parents’ things, breaking laptops and just expressing their way of anger,” one social media user stated, affirming that such reactions are counterproductive. Another user maintained that the responsibility for a student’s results is often shared, suggesting that parental aggression only serves to isolate the youth further.
The incident has reinforced calls for a cultural shift in how families perceive academic failure. Many responders urged the student to remain resilient and suggested that the current generation must pledge to treat their own future children with more empathy. Educators affirmed that while the CBSE results are a milestone, they should not be a trigger for the systematic abuse of students.
