NEW DELHI, MAY 15 — Delhi Metro has introduced hydrogen-fuelled shuttle buses to its fleet starting this Friday. The new service is designed to bridge the gap between metro stations and major administrative hubs in the Central Vista area, offering an affordable and sustainable alternative to private vehicle use.

The shuttle operates in both clockwise and anti-clockwise loops, maintaining a 30-minute frequency between 8:30 am and 6:30 pm, with a midday break. Key stops along the circuit include the National Gallery of Modern Art, Baroda House, and Akbar Road. Officials declared that the initiative serves as a critical model for the future adoption of clean-energy mobility solutions across Indian cities.

“This is a landmark step towards hydrogen-based transportation,” a senior official asserted. He maintained that the collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited allows the city to test high-capacity hydrogen fuel technology in a high-traffic urban environment.

Commuters can board the 35-seater buses for a nominal fee of ₹10 or ₹15 depending on the distance traveled. The DMRC affirmed that the service would remain operational Monday through Friday, excluding public holidays. By integrating UPI and NCMC payment options, the corporation stated it aims to provide a seamless and modern travel experience for the capital’s workforce.
