NEW DELHI, May 16 — An international narcotics smuggling attempt was disrupted following a specialized operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau, marking the first time the amphetamine-based drug Captagon has been recovered by domestic agencies.

The operation concluded with the recovery of contraband worth ₹182 crore and the arrest of a foreign national, who is currently being interrogated by federal investigators regarding the origin and local handlers of the illicit cargo.

“The major crackdown was carried out under ‘Operation RAGEPILL’ and described the seizure as a significant achievement in the country’s anti-drug campaign,” Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted on Saturday. He reaffirmed that the administration enforces a comprehensive zero-tolerance strategy to counter structured trafficking syndicates utilizing domestic trade lines.

According to reordered operational details, the contraband was discovered hidden within a commercial consignment destined for international ports. The highly addictive substance had been packaged to exploit standard shipping lanes before intelligence analysts flagged the movement.

The Home Minister noted that the success of the mission reflects heightened vigilance across border terminals, stating that domestic soil would not be permitted to serve as a logistics corridor for transnational criminal networks.

“The government follows a strict zero-tolerance policy against narcotics smuggling and trafficking,” Shah affirmed, noting that the timely intervention by the NCB prevented the establishment of a dangerous new transit pattern through South Asia.
