YAMUNANAGAR, MAY 21 — A local court in Jagadhri has ordered a life term for a Yamunanagar woman found guilty of murdering her 3-year-old daughter in a hotel room two years ago.
Additional Sessions Judge Sukhda Pritam finalized the judgment after validating the forensic and situational evidence compiled by the regional police department against the convict, Maninder Kaur. Alongside the life sentence, the bench directed the payment of a 25,000 rupee fine, noting that the act represented a severe breach of parental custody.
The case dates back to August 2022, when the convict’s husband, an executive employed at a corporate firm in Gurugram, initiated legal action against his wife after the sudden disappearance of their minor daughter.
“The accused traveled across district lines to execute the crime in an attempt to evade immediate detection,” state prosecutors maintained during the closing arguments. “The circumstantial timeline established by hospitality logs and recovery data confirmed absolute culpability.”
According to the official investigation files, Kaur confessed that friction regarding an ongoing extramarital association drove her to plan the elimination of her children so she could leave her marriage.
“My husband came to know of it and this led to frequent quarrels,” Kaur noted in her signed statement to the police during the investigation phase. “I wanted to live freely with the other man, so we decided to do away with the children.”
The physical evidence verified that Kaur took her 8-year-old son and her daughter to Amritsar, where she choked the toddler with a garment and subsequently left the body outside a gurdwara. Law enforcement officials noted that the prompt intervention of investigators prevented harm to the surviving son after the initial search operations commenced.
