Ferozepur, May 23: A specialized tactical sweep by the Ferozepur Police led to the arrest of three suspected drug traffickers and the recovery of over four kilograms of high-grade heroin, senior police administrators affirmed Saturday.

The arrests took place at the Daana Mandi in City Ferozepur following precise field reconnaissance by the CIA Staff Zira. Acting on explicit intelligence gathered during area patrolling, a team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Bohar Singh cornered the trio as they attempted to broker a transaction using an unnumbered Splendor motorcycle. Search protocols of the suspects yielded exactly 4.254 kilograms of heroin alongside three mobile communication devices.

The state’s current enforcement grid focuses heavily on breaking local networks through structural vigilance.

“Under the explicit directives of the Punjab Government and the Director General of Police, comprehensive measures are being implemented to completely eradicate the drug menace across the district,” Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh Sidhu declared.

The suspects, residents of Mamdot and Ferozepur Sadar, face charges under Case Number 182 at the City Ferozepur Police Station. Background verifications established that Arshdeep Singh was previously booked for heroin possession in Mamdot and vehicle violations in Moga, while Ranjit Singh was previously tied to a 2023 narcotics seizure. Officials noted that ongoing questioning aims to trace the cross-border or inter-district linkages of the seized contraband.
