Chandigarh, June 23: The Bhagwant Mann Government’s universal health coverage model is successfully transforming reproductive healthcare delivery by facilitating safer, medically supervised treatments in early pregnancy. By integrating hundreds of private and public medical facilities into the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, the administration has created a protective healthcare buffer that helps women avoid the dangers of delayed clinical intervention. Medical specialists report that early access within the initial eight weeks of gestation represents the safest window for patients, a category that now constitutes the largest portion of utilized services under the scheme.
Out of the total documented cases managed through the state program, 185 procedures were successfully completed in the early stages of pregnancy. This shift reflects a growing public awareness regarding institutional safety and the elimination of traditional social and economic barriers. Dr Ramita Aggarwal, Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, maintained that delays in seeking timely care are historically tied to a lack of financial resources and awareness, which can inadvertently drive individuals toward unsafe alternatives. “Every case requires proper clinical assessment before medication or procedure to ensure safety,” she added.
According to clinical evaluations, the diverse reasons necessitating these medical procedures range from unintended pregnancies and structural career impacts to critical fetal abnormalities and maternal physical health risks. The state’s financial architecture directly addresses these challenges by offering fully subsidized care, ensuring that family planning decisions are not constrained by immediate medical costs. Health department officials declared that the ongoing reinforcement of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana remains a cornerstone of the state’s broader initiative to upgrade overall public health infrastructure and promote long-term community welfare.
