Chandigarh, July 25: Congress MLA Geeta Bhukkal maintained that the stepping down of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan represents a victory for young citizens, while clarifying that student agitation will persist until the government accepts all core demands regarding examination governance. Addressing news outlets, the former Haryana Education Minister stated that a single cabinet exit does not absolve central authorities from fixing structural vulnerabilities in national testing systems.
Emphasizing the human impact of recent paper leak controversies, Bhukkal maintained that administrative shortcomings had caused immense distress among aspirants, directly linking the examination disruptions to tragic losses of young lives across the country.
The lawmaker further stated that opposition leaders and student activists faced excessive police responses simply for demanding fair testing practices.
“India is a nation of young people, and the central government was ultimately forced to bow to the voice of the youth,” Bhukkal asserted, noting that peaceful public advocacy successfully demonstrated the power of student unity.
Focusing on future policy directions, Bhukkal urged parliamentary leadership to permit a dedicated adjournment motion debate on the national education structure. She maintained that public trust in the National Testing Agency has reached an all-time low, necessitating immediate, transparent reforms to restore credibility to entrance examinations and protect the academic futures of millions of students.
