Ganderbal, July 28: Thirty-nine Amarnath Yatris sustained injuries on Tuesday morning when their return bus crashed into a residential property at Hariganwan in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The devotees were traveling back from the Baltal base camp after completing their pilgrimage at the cave shrine when the vehicle skidded off the roadway.
Officials reported that the vehicle went out of control along a winding section of the road. The bus subsequently hit an unoccupied house, which sustained severe structural damage but acted as a barrier that stopped the vehicle from tumbling into the nearby Sindh River. Rescue operations were launched shortly after the incident to evacuate the passengers to medical centers.
Addressing the situation, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha confirmed that administrative and healthcare agencies have been deployed to assist the victims.
“Spoke with Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, and health officials, and enquired about the health condition of Shri Amarnathji Yatra pilgrims injured in the unfortunate road accident earlier this morning at Ganiwan, Ganderbal,” Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated. “39 pilgrims returning after darshan of Baba Barfani sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at SKIMS.”
Sinha maintained that regional authorities are working to ensure prompt and adequate care for every individual affected by the mishap.
“I pray to Lord Shiva for the speedy recovery of the injured devotees,” Sinha asserted, noting that instructions were issued to hospital authorities to provide all required medical attention.
