Ranchi, July 31: District administrations and security agencies across Jharkhand have been placed on heightened vigilance after intelligence reports warned of escalating statewide protests concerning recruitment examination irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC. The Special Branch dispatched confidential instructions to senior superintendents, superintendents of police, and civil administrators, directing them to strengthen security measures to preserve public order against planned rallies and hunger strikes.
The ongoing movement, organized under the banner of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Candidates Justice Forum, began with a continuous sit-in on July 25 at Bapu Vatika. Led by Dinbandhu Mahato and Devendra Mahato, protesting candidates have been seeking thorough investigations into exam corruption, strict accountability, and systemic reforms for timely, transparent selections.
Security officials warned that the movement is poised to gain rapid momentum if state authorities fail to address candidate demands. Organizers have slated an indefinite hunger strike beginning August 2, alongside a massive gherao of the Jharkhand Assembly scheduled for August 6 during the legislative session. With large numbers of candidates and coaching institute members expected to gather in the state capital, authorities have mandated heightened surveillance along major travel routes and key public locations.
