Hoshiarpur, August 13: Senior citizens from five districts in Punjab embarked on government-sponsored journeys to prominent pilgrimage sites as part of the broadened Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Yojna. State leadership marked the commencement of the expanded route network from Hoshiarpur, deploying air-conditioned sleeper buses bound for spiritual locations in neighbouring states.
During the flag-off ceremony, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared that four hundred thousand pilgrims have already visited holy sites in Sri Amritsar Sahib and Sri Anandpur Sahib during the initial phase. He asserted that the administration has allocated substantial funding toward the overall initiative, with a target to facilitate travel for one million citizens across all demographics. He stated that the government ensures full medical insurance for every passenger, along with comfortable lodging, quality meals, and assistance at each destination to ensure a comfortable journey for the elderly.
Sharing his observations during an interaction with passengers inside the buses, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal affirmed that the welfare project eliminates financial barriers for families wishing to visit revered shrines. He declared that excellent hotels and local transport facilities have been secured by the state to guarantee convenience for the travelers throughout their trip. He maintained that the government remains committed to supporting senior citizens, wishing all departing pilgrims a peaceful and safe journey.
