LUCKNOW, AUGUST 15: True national freedom requires overcoming internal social challenges and achieving complete liberation from poverty, illiteracy, and inequality, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated during the 80th Independence Day celebrations in Lucknow. The Chief Minister unfurled the tricolour at his official residence before addressing the state on national security, governance progress, and civic responsibilities.
The ceremony featured tributes to national icons of the freedom struggle and fallen security personnel, alongside reflections on historical events such as the 1857 uprising, the Chauri Chaura movement, and the Kakori Train Action.
“Independence does not mean only political freedom,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared. “This day is not merely an occasion for ceremonies; it is also inspiring us to perform our duties as citizens in the efforts required to achieve the goals of complete freedom.”
Highlighting administrative initiatives designed to support key social demographics—including the poor, youth, women, and farmers—the Chief Minister asserted that focused welfare strategies over recent years have yielded visible structural improvements.
“Through the Direct Benefit Scheme, efforts were made to ensure 100 percent delivery of the benefits of government schemes,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath maintained, pointing to expanded healthcare infrastructure, AIIMS institutions, Mission Rozgar, and rapid transit developments like Metro and Namo Bharat trains.
He noted that collective effort remains essential to maintaining national strength and stability, cautioning against divisive influences.
“The country became enslaved because of internal contradictions and conspiracies, but it never accepted slavery in its mind and spirit,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath affirmed, urging citizens to work unitedly across all sectors toward building a developed nation.
During the event, the Chief Minister saluted state police personnel honored with gallantry awards, highlighting the sacrifice of late Inspector Sunil Kumar, recipient of the Kirti Chakra. He declared that the state’s firm commitment to law enforcement and zero tolerance toward crime remains integral to ensuring long-term peace and prosperity.
