Chandigarh: The Bhagwant Mann Administration has extended its statewide urban sanitation drive, Cleanliness Campaign 2.0, through September 12 to address ongoing civic requests, declared Local Government Minister Harjot Singh Bains. Citing strong community involvement across 14 Municipal Corporations and 152 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats, the Minister affirmed that administrative teams have cleared thousands of reported sanitation issues since the drive launched on August 29.
Emphasizing institutional reforms, the Minister announced that the state will conduct four dedicated Saturday cleanliness drives in local neighborhoods, parks, and commercial areas. Local administration teams, elected representatives, and municipal workers will partner with community organizations to ensure continuous upkeep. The Minister asserted that active public participation is crucial for maintaining cleaner towns and cities across the state.
Highlighting measures to prevent open dumping, the department has strengthened daily door-to-door waste collection systems in all urban areas. The Minister declared that while municipal staff continue working diligently on the ground, residents are encouraged to support waste management practices to ensure sustainable sanitation progress across Punjab.
