Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party has responded to the BJP’s proposed ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ by raising questions about central border oversight, drug supply routes from neighboring states, and Punjab’s share of river waters.
Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated during a news conference that addressing the drug problem requires coordinated effort, pointing out that significant seizures elsewhere in the country have links to Gujarat and Rajasthan. He affirmed that the central administration should focus on securing the international border under BSF jurisdiction while taking firm measures within BJP-administered states.
Cheema declared that the Punjab Government continues to advance its anti-drug strategy by combining enforcement measures with treatment facilities for affected individuals. He maintained that modern tracking systems, including anti-drone capabilities, have been deployed to curb cross-border smuggling. On a query regarding Gulzar Singh, the Minister noted that the sub-judice matter is being addressed through legal channels.
