Chandigarh: Acting upon directives from Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the Punjab Government has named a seven-member Coordination Committee designed to maintain ongoing communication with the panel set up by the highest Sikh temporal authority regarding the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026.
The state Home Department formally notified the panel, which brings together legal expertise and religious leaders. Former Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh, Damdami Taksal head Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa, and Sant Baba Sewa Singh of Rampur Khera join retired Justices Jaspal Singh and Gurbir Singh, former IPS officer Jatinder Singh Aulakh, and Law Officer Preet Inder Paul Singh on the panel.
Representatives affirmed that the initiative ensures constructive discussions between the administration and the Akal Takht committee. Panelists declared their commitment to carefully analyzing relevant issues under the Act before delivering comprehensive suggestions and reports back to the Punjab Government.
