Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court saw an expansion in its regular bench strength with Justice Rohit Kapoor taking the oath of office. Justice Kapoor, who joined the High Court as an Additional Judge in May 2025, officially transitioned to a regular judge following approval by the President of India under constitutional provisions. The appointment concludes a process initiated when the Supreme Court Collegium recommended his elevation in early 2024.

Prior to his judicial appointment, Justice Kapoor established a robust practice at the Chandigarh High Court focusing on service disputes, constitutional writs, and civil law cases. His oath-taking reflects the ongoing efforts to bolster the court’s capacity to handle pending litigation and maintain efficient judicial proceedings across both state jurisdictions.
