Chandigarh, Sept 16: The Chandigarh UT Administration completed the allotment process for 96 temporary green cracker licenses through a transparent draw of lots held in Sector 23. The initiative aims to streamline festive retail activity while maintaining strict environmental standards across the city.
A total of 13 approved locations have been mapped to host the stalls, distributing retail activity evenly across sectors. Key designated zones include the Sector 43 Dussehra Ground, Manimajra’s open ground near the Fire Station, Sector 46 adjoining the Old Rehri Market, and Sector 29 Sabzi Mandi Ground, alongside allocated spots in Dhanas and Ramdarbar.
Authorities declared that only CSIR-NEERI-certified products are permitted for retail, prohibiting conventional firecrackers across all allotted spaces. The policy framework focuses on reducing seasonal emissions and maintaining lower noise levels during the peak holiday period.
Administrative officials stated that both buyers and sellers must adhere strictly to the stipulated environmental parameters. Representatives affirmed that joint monitoring will ensure only permitted eco-friendly items are sold at the official designated market locations.
