Gorakhpur, Sept 16: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared a major shift in the state’s public health trajectory during the opening of the Indian Medical Association Charitable Blood Bank in Gorakhpur. The Chief Minister stated that the persistent threat of encephalitis, which once overwhelmed regional facilities and left families in distress, has been effectively wiped out alongside security challenges that previously hindered professional work.
During his address, the Chief Minister affirmed that the state’s health network has expanded rapidly, growing to 85 medical colleges across 75 districts. He maintained that regional institutions like BRD Medical College have transitioned from overburdened centers into super-specialty hubs. The state administration has also initiated free 10-bed dialysis facilities across every district hospital, reducing the need for patients to travel to distant metro cities for essential treatment.
The Chief Minister emphasized that voluntary blood donation remains irreplaceable by artificial means, calling on medical professionals and social platforms to actively encourage regular donors. He declared that unchecked professional blood donation poses serious health risks and must be curtailed through strict monitoring and heightened community awareness. He commended the IMA for setting up the facility, maintaining that its charitable initiative reflects true social responsibility.
Representatives of the medical association affirmed that the new blood bank will ensure timely access to safe blood for needy patients across the region. Leaders maintained that ongoing administrative support and healthcare expansion continue to establish Gorakhpur as a major medical services hub.
