Chandigarh:The Aam Aadmi Party has urged the Central Government to reconsider the proposed draft Chandigarh Health Service Rules 2026, cautioning against measures that alter the administrative balance between Punjab and Haryana in the capital city.
AAP Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu asserted that the introduction of a dedicated UT medical cadre undermines the traditional 60:40 distribution formula, effectively lowering Punjab’s quota of medical officers to 36%. Pannu stated that this move aligns with a gradual reduction of state entitlements across regional institutions. He affirmed that the central leadership must respect the historic background of Chandigarh’s creation and ensure that the rights derived from state reorganisation are fully preserved rather than altered through new recruitment frameworks.
