NEW DELHI, SEPT 17: The Supreme Court scheduled a September 21 hearing to address concerns regarding the exclusion of names and issuance of notices during Delhi’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Appearing before a bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, legal representatives asserted that the Election Commission and Delhi Chief Electoral Officer failed to disclose specific factual grounds or lists of electors issued notices. The petition states that nearly 33 lakh voters faced notices under undefined classifications such as logical discrepancies or lack of mapping, alongside the 47 lakh names excluded from the draft list. Petitioners affirmed that the current procedure deviates from established guidelines, demanding that election authorities publish comprehensive details to ensure no eligible citizen is disenfranchised
