NEW DELHI, SEPT 18: In a decisive call at the United Nations, India underscored the imperative of establishing a stronger international framework to keep global sea routes secure and operational. India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni, highlighted that the stability of global commerce hinges entirely on protected maritime corridors.
Ambassador Parvathaneni declared that recent disturbances along key maritime channels have clearly showcased how quickly regional incidents can threaten broader international security and trade. He maintained that ensuring uninterrupted navigation through major sea lanes must remain a central priority for the international community.
Emphasizing the necessity of global cooperation, the envoy affirmed that nations must collaborate to reinforce legal standards and technical safeguards on the seas. He stated that safeguarding maritime trade routes is not merely an economic issue, but a cornerstone of global peace and collective well-being.
