Bathinda, Oct 28:  A concerted anti-narcotics drive in Bathinda district resulted in the apprehension of four suspects and the confiscation of more than 5.5 kilograms of opium across two separate police actions. Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Manoj Gorsi declared that officers are examining the full operational chain behind the transportation and local distribution of the seized substances.

The largest recovery occurred near Jethuke village when the CIA-1 division stopped a utility vehicle, discovering 4.5 kilograms of hidden opium. Law enforcement officers arrested Gurdeep Singh of Khokhar village alongside Harpal Singh, also known as Sonu, from Rampura city. Authorities affirmed that Gurdeep Singh carries a prior record involving commercial narcotics offenses with the Sangat police.

Meanwhile, a second action conducted by the Maur police station resulted in the arrest of two young men traveling in a sedan with 1.032 kilograms of opium. The suspects were identified as Ramanpreet Singh from Patiala district and Ranveer Singh, alias Rana, from Mansa district.

Police declared that initial probing points to Ramanpreet Singh as the supplier delivering the contraband to Ranveer Singh. Authorities maintained that Ramanpreet Singh is already named in an existing attempt-to-murder case, while his claimed background as a university student remains under verification as part of the ongoing investigation.
