Chandigarh/ Amritsar, December 25: Protests by farmers escalated today as Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike, demanding the fulfillment of 13 key demands, including a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP), marked its 30th day. Farmers from Ajnala in Amritsar are heading to the Khanauri border to support Dallewal, whose health is reportedly in critical condition.
Hailing Dallewal as a dedicated champion of their cause, farmer leaders called on the central government to urgently address their demands. Protest organizers have arranged food supplies and vehicles for those supporting the ongoing sit-in at the Khanauri border.
Accusing the government of mistreating the farming community, leaders said such actions have left farmers with no option but to fight for their rights. They stressed that resolving these issues would allow farmers to return to their homes in peace.
Dallewal’s deteriorating condition underscores the urgency of the farmers’ demands, as pressure mounts on the central government to intervene.
