Aircraft Carrying HP Dy CM Misses Landing Spot at Shimla Airport

by TheReportingTimes

Shimla, March 24 – An aircraft carrying over 30 passengers, including Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and Director General of Police Atul Verma, missed the landing spot at Jubbarhatti Airport on Monday morning.

According to eyewitnesses, the plane overshot the runway and struck the studs at the edge of the airstrip. The impact burst one of its tyres, but the aircraft remained on the runway, preventing a potential disaster.

“The runway is small, and we cannot deny this fact. As a layman, I can say that while landing, the plane did not touch the ground where it was supposed to and came to the end of the airstrip,” Agnihotri said.

Airport authorities said the flight, which had taken off from Delhi after routine checks, was being inspected by engineers to determine if a technical glitch caused the landing error.

As a precautionary measure, authorities cancelled the next scheduled flight to Dharamshala.

The reason behind the partial-runway landing is still under investigation, with technical teams examining the aircraft for possible mechanical faults. Further details are awaited.
