Chandigarh, April 02: Punjab Police on Wednesday dismissed reports claiming a complete withdrawal of security for Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia, clarifying that his cover has only been reduced following a reassessment of threat perception.
“The Security Review Committee periodically evaluates threat levels, and adjustments are made accordingly,” a police spokesperson said. “Security is either increased or decreased based on these assessments.”
Officials confirmed that Majithia still has an escort vehicle and a sufficient number of gunmen to ensure his safety as per protocol.
They underlined that such reviews are routine and based solely on security considerations.
