No Shift of Education Directorate from Shimla: Minister

by TheReportingTimes

SHIMLA, May 18 — Education Minister Rohit Thakur today firmly dismissed reports claiming that the Directorate of School Education or other key directorates were being moved from Shimla to Dharamsala, calling them “baseless and misleading.”

“There is absolutely no proposal under consideration to shift the Directorate of School Education from Shimla,” Thakur said in a statement issued here. “Such reports are completely unfounded and not aligned with any policy or official decision of the state government.”

Thakur said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had issued “clear and firm directions” during a recent meeting of the Education Department, explicitly stating that the Directorate of School Education, or any other directorates, would remain in Shimla under all circumstances.

Reiterating the state government’s position, Thakur added, “Shimla will continue to serve as the administrative nucleus of the state. The government is fully committed to preserving its role as the centre of all major departmental and governance-related activities.”
