Joint Operations Launched for Missing Defense Personnel Near Hathnikund

Water Levels Adjusted to Assist Aerial and Ground Search Teams Along the Yamuna River

by TheReportingTimes

YAMUNANAGAR, September 2: Defense and civilian rescue teams have intensified search efforts near the Hathnikund Barrage in Haryana’s Yamunanagar district following a training incident involving a 1 Para Special Forces team. The operation began late Tuesday evening after an army vessel experienced mechanical difficulties during a planned night navigation exercise.

Defense officials stated that strong river currents pulled the five-member crew toward the downstream barrage gates as they attempted to stabilize the vessel. The boat subsequently capsized in severe whirlpool eddies near the sluice entry points. Three crew members managed to reach the shoreline safely, while two soldiers were carried further downstream by the current.

Addressing the rescue response, official spokespersons declared that multi-agency teams are conducting combined aerial and surface searches across the river stretch. Authorities have adjusted barrage flow rates to assist diving teams and surface patrol units. Defense leadership maintained that emergency protocols were activated immediately and full resources remain deployed to trace the missing personnel.
