Chandigarh, July 25: Aam Aadmi Party Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu dismissed reports suggesting legal obstacles to the state’s flagship social welfare initiatives, maintaining that public participation confirms widespread community support.
Speaking to reporters in Chandigarh, Pannu stated that public enrolment under the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana has reached 72,56,686 women, adding that pending beneficiaries will receive accumulated three-month transfers starting August 1.
Pannu asserted that criticism from rival parties regarding scheme execution has proven baseless as operational targets are achieved. “The numbers themselves have answered the critics,” Pannu declared, maintaining that administrative commitments are being met across rural and urban centers alike. Ludhiana recorded the highest enrolment figures at 7,86,863, while Patiala and Amritsar logged 5,50,035 and 5,39,285 registrations respectively.
Detailing medical welfare statistics under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, Pannu declared that the state administration has disbursed ₹917 crore to cover cashless healthcare costs for over 50 lakh patients. He affirmed that card distribution has reached major milestones, led by Ludhiana district with 5,36,504 issued cards, Patiala with 4,52,030, and Jalandhar with 3,65,366.
Addressing queries on judicial proceedings, Pannu affirmed that no court stay affects the ongoing cash transfer program, reiterating that government welfare delivery remains on schedule across all districts.
