AMRITSAR, June 9 — A joint operation by the state police and central security agencies on Tuesday led to the arrest of two operatives and the seizure of two live hand grenades in the Amritsar sector. The suspects were reportedly working as localized modules for anti-national elements operating from foreign shores to orchestrate security disruptions across Punjab.
The arrests have exposed active logistical links between local operatives and handlers residing overseas. According to senior investigators, the module was specifically tasked with executing public space disruptions, prompting immediate counter-measures and secondary raids across suspected hideouts in the border sub-divisions.
The police have centered their ongoing inquiry on determining the intended targets of the seized hardware. Detailing the cross-border nature of the network, a senior police spokesperson stated:
“The arrested persons were part of a network run by elements from across the border who want to destabilize the region. Security agencies are now working to uncover the full extent of this conspiracy and identify other persons associated with this network.”
The Gharinda police have formalized the arrests under an First Information Report containing strict anti-terror and explosives legislation provisions. Forensics teams have been called in to analyze the serial numbers and manufacturing details of the recovered ordnance to establish the exact source of supply.
The state security grid maintained that proactive coordination with central agencies remains critical to dismantling these hybrid modules before they can execute attacks. Investigations continue to proceed rapidly to identify any secondary sympathizers or financial conduits supporting the network within the state.
