Lucknow, Oct 30: A new historical work titled “Bharat Aantarik Emergency 1975” documenting the resistance movement during the 1975 Emergency was formally unveiled by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence in Lucknow.
Authored by prominent leader Shatrudra Prakash, the book provides an extensive record of the period between June 25, 1975, and March 23, 1977, examining the suspension of constitutional liberties, the clearing of low-income settlements, and the strict media regulations imposed nationwide.
Leaders asserted that the work serves as a foundational record of the struggles endured by field activists under Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan’s countrywide call for democratic revival. The text details the personal involvement of Shatrudra Prakash, who entered public life through student representation at Banaras Hindu University before entering the state assembly.
The publication maintained a detailed focus on the operational methods of underground resistance groups, specifically highlighting how local cells produced and circulated the clandestine bulletin Ranbheri to share news and coordinate public gatherings. It further chronicles the systemic arrests that impacted political families across Uttar Pradesh, including the detention of the author’s wife, Anjana Prakash.
Official figures declared that the archival volume offers significant insights into the preservation of democratic norms and provides future generations with an authentic account of mid-century political challenges in India.
