Independent Shokeen Wins DUSU Vice Presidency; ABVP Claims Remaining Panel

NEW DELHI: Results for the Delhi University Students’ Union elections revealed a split outcome across the top four central panel roles, with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad winning three posts and an Independent candidate taking the remaining position.

Counting proceedings were conducted on Saturday at the University Sports Stadium’s Multipurpose Hall. Yash Dabas, representing the ABVP, was declared president after gathering 24,576 votes, finishing ahead of NSUI rival Vijay Shankar Meena, who bagged 22,523 votes.

The election for vice-president saw Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen take the seat with 30,615 votes. ABVP candidate Ishu Maurya followed with 16,910 votes, while NSUI nominee Vir Chatrath secured 4,313 votes.

The position of secretary was taken by ABVP’s Riya Chhawdi, who logged 21,650 votes against 14,869 votes cast for NSUI’s Namrata Chaudhary. For joint secretary, ABVP’s Lakshay Raj Singh achieved victory with 16,615 votes, overcoming challenges from Independent candidate Vishesh Yadav with 15,778 votes and NSUI candidate Gopal Choudhary with 15,206 votes
