NEW DELHI, OCT 1: India’s Asian Games campaign reached significant milestones in Aichi-Nagoya as Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya extended national praise to the victorious athletes following major achievements in shooting, archery, and boxing disciplines.
The country recorded unprecedented success in shooting through Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai, who captured gold in the mixed team trap event with a games-record score of 34. The victory stands as India’s first gold medal in this specific category, complementing Dhanda’s earlier individual gold and team silver medals in trap shooting.
Archery disciplines saw sweeping dominant results, with Indian teams asserting victory in the men’s team, women’s team, and mixed team compound events. The women’s trio equalled the world record during their run, while the men’s team maintained composure to defeat China 238-237 in a closely contested final match.
Further contributing to the overall tally, boxers Priya Ghangas and Kapil Pokharya secured bronze medals in their respective divisions. Official records confirm the country’s total medal count stands at 10 gold, 21 silver, and 27 bronze medals as competition continues.
