Ludhiana, June 15: Ludhiana A formal case has been registered by the Ludhiana police against SAD councillor Chatarvir Singh, known locally as Kamal Arora, following an alleged incident involving a high-ranking official at the Municipal Corporation office. The FIR includes charges related to the obstruction of a public servant, the destruction of government property, and other relevant legal provisions.

The incident was brought to light after Parveen Kumar Singla, Superintending Engineer for the Building and Roads branch, reported that he had been assaulted while on duty on June 10. Singla noted that he was meeting with contractor Vimal Tandon regarding official matters when the councillor and an unidentified companion entered his office. Singla stated that the pair became aggressive, questioning the progress of road repairs in Ward No. 20 before resorting to physical violence and verbal abuse.

Staff members within the office, including SDO Balwinder Singh and JE Gaurav Kumar, rushed to the scene after hearing the noise. They reportedly intervened to separate the parties and remove the councillor from the immediate area. Singla affirmed that the altercation involved more than just personal contact, claiming that official files and documents were torn and discarded during the dispute. Additionally, the engineer maintained that a chair was thrown in his direction, causing damage to the office interior after it struck a metal cabinet.

Councillor Chatarvir Singh has firmly rejected these assertions, characterizing the situation as an exaggeration of a minor verbal disagreement. He stated that the accusations made against him were entirely false. Regarding the broader context, the councillor asserted that he had been struggling to get road works completed in his ward and that administrative officials had repeatedly ignored his calls for action. He stated that he remains confident in his ability to clear his name in court. The councillor affirmed that he will pursue a probe against the engineer by filing a complaint with the vigilance department, alleging misconduct in the handling of municipal projects.
