Patiala, June 16: Community collaboration and robust infrastructure development will guide the future of Patiala’s urban management following the arrival of Simrpreet Kaur as the Municipal Corporation’s new Additional Commissioner. The veteran administrator took charge at the civic headquarters, greeting a welcoming delegation led by Joint Commissioner Manreet Rana and various departmental staff members.
Immediate plans are underway to leverage community partnerships to upgrade the city’s overall aesthetic and environmental health. Simrpreet Kaur stated that the corporation plans to mobilize local citizen groups and volunteer organizations to create a more comprehensive approach to public waste management. This collaborative strategy is designed to scale up the hybrid cleaning framework introduced a short while ago by Local Government Minister Harjot Singh Bains, with the explicit goal of establishing Patiala as a benchmark for cleanliness across the region.
The administrative shift strictly mirrors the governance objectives established by the Punjab state administration under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. The Additional Commissioner declared that, in complete coordination with Mayor Kundan Gogia and Commissioner Pooja Sial Grewal, the civic body will optimize everyday public service delivery. She affirmed that structural development works across Patiala will be closely monitored to guarantee that long-standing urban projects face no further delays.
The municipal administration benefits from an executive with a highly diverse public service background. Simrpreet Kaur’s professional history spans multiple key state departments, including public works, taxation, and water infrastructure. Her past leadership roles feature administrative service as the ADC of both Patiala and Mansa, alongside crucial tenures as an SDM in Doodhansadhan, Tapa, and Nabha, which provides her with extensive familiarity regarding the socio-economic landscape of the region.
