Anandpur Sahib, July 13: Thirteen government-provided tents were reduced to ashes following a Monday morning blaze near Anandpur Sahib, with official reports confirming zero casualties. The temporary structures in Agampur village were part of a larger complex set up under the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Scheme.
Local administrative officials and firefighting teams stabilized the situation rapidly after being alerted to the incident around 9 am. Their swift intervention ensured that the fire did not spread to the other 200-plus tents erected for the state-sponsored pilgrimage initiative.
Anandpur Sahib SDM Sukhpal Singh maintained that timing helped prevent injuries during the morning incident. “There was no loss of life or injuries in the fire,” the official stated during the site assessment.
The site housed around 250 tents in total, designed to offer comfortable lodging for arriving devotees. Reports indicated that the pilgrims assigned to the affected area had fortunately vacated their quarters about half an hour prior to the incident. Authorities are currently investigating the infrastructure to pinpoint the exact technical issue. “The preliminary assessment suggested that the blaze might have been caused by an electrical short circuit,” Sukhpal Singh affirmed, noting that a full inquiry is underway.
