Chandigarh, May 4: Punjab authorities have implemented a voice recognition system featuring more than 84,000 accused and suspected individuals to accelerate criminal investigations. During a briefing in Chandigarh, Baltej Pannu, the AAP Punjab State Media In-charge, stated that this innovation is part of a broader push to modernize the state’s law enforcement capabilities. The system works alongside a global database of 390,000 criminals to provide rapid tracking and identification of those threatening regional stability.
The state government’s commitment to eradicating gangsterism is reflected in the recent success of the Shambhu blast investigation. Officials used the new technology to identify and detain every member of the involved module. Baltej Pannu declared, “Punjab Police has now become fully high tech and Artificial Intelligence is being used to tackle gangsters.” He added that the suspects involved in the Shambhu case have admitted to their participation in earlier criminal activities following their arrest.
Beyond tracking violent offenders, the technological surge supports the “Yudh Nashean Virudh” campaign, which has been operational for over 14 months. This initiative focuses on breaking the financial backbone of drug traffickers by seizing narcotics and targeting illegally acquired assets. Baltej Pannu affirmed that the government is taking consistent action against those who have accumulated wealth through the drug trade.
The administration remains focused on maintaining law and order through these high-tech interventions. Baltej Pannu asserted that anyone attempting to jeopardize the peace in Punjab will no longer be able to evade the law. He maintained that the police are now equipped to find criminals “even from the depths of the earth,” ensuring a comprehensive crackdown on both drugs and organized crime. The campaign is expected to continue with full commitment to fulfill the state’s security goals.
