Weapon Accident Claims Life of Kairon Post In-Charge

Second accidental shooting within Patti police circle prompts department mourning

Tarn Taran, June 26: An accidental shooting has claimed the life of a senior police official in the Patti area of Tarn Taran district, marking the second such fatality within the local police administration in recent days. The incident occurred late Thursday night inside the residential or office quarters of the officer.

The victim, Assistant Sub-Inspector Amarjit Singh, was managing his service pistol when the firearm discharged unexpectedly, striking him at close range. This follows a highly similar occurrence just a few days ago, when security post in-charge Gurmeet Singh passed away from a wound inflicted by his own service weapon at the Patti courts.

Emergency services were dispatched immediately, but medical staff at the Civil Hospital could not revive the officer. “ASI Amarjit Singh died of a bullet injury while cleaning his service weapon,” Patti DSP Ravisher Singh declared regarding the findings of the preliminary inquiry.

Local police teams asserted that standard safety protocols and weapon handling guidelines are continuously monitored to prevent such operational hazards. Authorities affirmed that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination before being handed over to his grieving family, which includes his wife and two young adult children.
