New Delhi, Oct 3— Delhi Police’s Special Cell arrested two aides of foreign-based gangsters after an encounter in Kapashera, Southwest Delhi, on Friday morning. The accused have been identified as Akash Rajput, a resident of Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, and Mahipal from Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
Police said Rajput, wanted in several cases across Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat, has links with Canada-based gangster Daler Kotia. He was allegedly involved in a July 2022 hospital firing in Karnal and a July 2025 kidnapping-for-ransom case in Gujarat, where Rs 100 crore was demanded by gangster Kirit Jhala operating from abroad. Rajasthan Police had announced a reward of Rs 20,000 on him.
Rajput was also associated with wanted gangsters Jagdish Jagla and Abhishek Gaur of the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar-Virender Charan syndicate. According to officials, he was in the final stages of securing a forged passport to flee overseas.
Mahipal, previously arrested in the Karnal hospital firing case and later released on bail, had rejoined the network alongside Rajput, police added.
During the operation, the accused opened fire when challenged, leading to a brief gunfight. Rajput sustained a bullet injury in the lower body before being overpowered. He was shifted to hospital.
