New Delhi/Patna, Dec 14: With Assembly elections due in several key states in 2026, the BJP’s decision to appoint Nitin Nabin as national working president reflects the party’s focus on organisational experience and youth outreach, leaders said.
Nabin, who began his political career with the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), has been associated with several nationwide campaigns, including the National Unity Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir and a tribute march from Guwahati to Tawang for martyrs of the 1965 war.
“He has a strong organisational background and understands booth-level politics as well as governance,” a BJP functionary said.
The Bankipur MLA has also served as BJP in-charge for Sikkim and co-in-charge for Chhattisgarh, where party leaders credit him with contributing to electoral success.
In government, Nabin has held portfolios such as urban development, housing, law and justice, and road construction. Party leaders say he has focused on infrastructure, urban housing and welfare measures, including incentives for ASHA and Mamta workers and pension-related initiatives for journalists.
Nabin inherited his political legacy from his father, Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, a former MLA from Bankipur. He entered the Assembly through a by-election in 2006 and has since won multiple terms.
With polls scheduled in West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu in 2026, Nabin is expected to play a central role in coordinating organisational strategy.
“This is a responsibility-heavy assignment at a crucial time,” a party leader said. “The working president’s role will be key in steering the party through the next phase.”
