Fatal Fire on Haryana Expressway

Two dead in Nuh pile-up triggered by sudden braking

by TheReportingTimes

NUH, JAN 18: A chain-reaction collision on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway resulted in the deaths of two people after their trucks caught fire on Sunday. The crash happened in the Tawadu subdivision when a series of five vehicles collided, causing a gravel-laden dump truck and a container to burst into flames.

Rescue teams found the bodies of a driver and a cleaner inside the charred remains of the trucks. Local authorities mentioned that the severity of the fire left the victims unrecognizable, and forensic efforts are now being used to establish their identities.

The police station in-charge for Mohammadpur Ahir noted that the pile-up began when a lead vehicle braked abruptly. This forced the following heavy vehicles into a high-impact collision that proved fatal.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that sudden braking was the primary cause of the accident,” the station in-charge said. He directly said that authorities are working to track down other drivers involved in the incident.

According to witnesses, two of the vehicles that contributed to the pile-up did not stop and sped away from the site. This prompted a police search for the fleeing motorists.

The expressway was shut down for three hours as fire crews from three different tenders battled the blaze. Traffic was eventually restored once the burnt wreckage was moved and the road was declared safe for commuters.
