Sri Anandpur Sahib/Chandigarh, Jan 19: Sri Anandpur Sahib/Chandigarh, Jan 19: Aam Aadmi Party MP Malvinder Singh Kang has warned that Punjab will not tolerate attempts to fracture social harmony through the circulation of doctored content.

In a formal missive to the Prime Minister, Kang sought the immediate prosecution of individuals involved in a “dangerous attempt” to provoke the Sikh community by using a fake video involving AAP leader Atishi.

The MP cited official forensic findings from laboratories in Punjab and Delhi to support his claim that the video was a total fabrication.

He directly accused BJP leader Kapil Mishra of knowingly spreading the misinformation to weaponise religious sentiments.

Kang said that silence from the central leadership on this matter could be interpreted as consent for such divisive tactics.

“The Sikh Gurus laid down their lives not for power or privilege, but for Dharma, truth, human dignity, and the freedom of conscience,” Kang said.

He mentioned that the community expects justice rather than silence when its faith is targeted through lies and manipulation. The MP described the act as a deliberate strategy to create outrage where no cause existed.

The letter urged the Prime Minister to uphold the principles of justice by taking decisive steps against those who orchestrated the smear campaign.

Kang noted that timely action would help restore public faith and reaffirm the government’s commitment to protecting religious harmony in modern India.

“Such actions amount to the highest form of moral transgression,” Kang said regarding the timing of the smear campaign during significant religious commemorations.

He reiterated that the state of Punjab remains committed to standing firmly for truth and justice against any political forces attempting to insult religious beliefs for electoral gains.
