Chandigarh, Jan 29: A high-level Cabinet Sub-Committee has finalized the initial framework for celebrating the 650th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji, focusing on a grassroots approach that reaches every village in Punjab. The initiative seeks to spread the Guru’s message of equality and humanity through a mix of religious ceremonies and social awareness campaigns.
During the committee’s debut session, which included Cabinet Ministers Lal Chand Kataruchak and Tarunpreet Singh Saund, officials presented a detailed roadmap for the upcoming year. The celebrations are designed to be inclusive, featuring blood donation camps, plantation drives, and marathons to engage the youth and promote social welfare.
“Events related to the life, education and travels of Sri Guru Ravidass ji will be organized in villages across Punjab from February 2026 to February 2027,” Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said. He mentioned that these programs are being crafted to ensure that the Guru’s teachings resonate with the residents of the state.
The religious itinerary includes a significant gathering in November 2026 at Khuralgarh Sahib, where prominent religious personalities will participate in the Begampura event. To maintain the sanctity of the celebrations, the government is working closely with representatives from Dera Ballan and other prominent spiritual leaders who attended the meeting.
The government’s plan also incorporates academic and cultural elements, such as workshops and psychedelic rallies, to provide a multi-dimensional tribute. The Finance Minister noted that the advice of the visiting saints would be central to the execution of each phase of the program.
“The Punjab Government is conducting this event with full devotion,” Cheema said. He further said that the monthly schedule has been carefully drawn up to maintain the momentum of the celebrations throughout the year, ensuring a fitting tribute to the spiritual leader’s 650th birth anniversary.
