Amritsar, Feb 10: A major police operation in Amritsar has led to the arrest of five men involved in a cross-border smuggling racket that utilized drones to transport narcotics and firearms into Punjab.

The Commissionerate Police recovered 523 grams of methamphetamine, commonly known as ICE, alongside two Glock 9mm pistols. According to investigators, the module was managed by an international handler in Australia who used encrypted messaging to direct the local distribution of the contraband smuggled from across the border.

“Satnam Singh disclosed that he was supplying the recovered ICE drug to four local associates,” a police official directly said regarding the chain of distribution within the city.

The breakthrough occurred during a routine search operation when Satnam Singh, a 32-year-old resident of Kakkar village, was caught with the drugs and weapons. His subsequent confession allowed police teams to trace and nominate Raman, Chirag, Rishabh, and Vaibhav as his local distributors. All four were taken into custody within 72 hours of the initial arrest.

Police officials noted that the handler employed strict security protocols to ensure the suppliers and receivers remained unknown to each other. The high commercial value of the recovered ICE was also noted, with authorities stating that it represents a significant threat to national security. The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior DCP and ADCP officials, and further investigations are underway to map the network’s broader connections.
