Chandigarh, February 28, 2026: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema declared on Friday that the collapse of the alleged liquor scam case in court is a significant blow to the BJP’s attempt to crush the Aam Aadmi Party. In a press statement, the Minister maintained that the acquittal of Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and other senior leaders reveals a coordinated plot to politically eliminate the party’s top leadership.
Cheema asserted that the judicial decision shows the absence of any credible evidence in what he termed a “manufactured scam.” He stated that the central agencies were utilized as tools for a political vendetta rather than for justice. The Minister affirmed that the Aam Aadmi Party, born out of an anti-corruption movement, has seen its commitment to clean politics validated by the judiciary.
“This verdict is a victory of truth and the law of the land,” Cheema maintained. He noted that the legal victory reaffirms the fundamental rights and personal liberties guaranteed to every citizen under the Constitution. The Minister declared that the attempt to weaken democracy by misusing constitutional provisions has ultimately failed.
The Finance Minister also stated that the BJP’s actions were driven by an inability to digest the progress made in government schools and healthcare facilities. He asserted that the party workers who stood firm during these challenging times have been vindicated. Cheema concluded by stating that while others use the name of Dr. Ambedkar for political gain, the AAP continues to carry forward his vision through practical governance and adherence to the rule of law.
