Chandigarh, May 10: The Aam Aadmi Party affirmed Saturday that the Bharatiya Janata Party is using the Enforcement Directorate as a tool for political intimidation following the arrest of Minister Sanjeev Arora. Party officials stated that the central government has unleashed agencies to crush dissenting voices in regions where it lacks a solid political foundation.

During a press briefing, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema declared that the central government is repeating a pattern of misusing machinery to influence local governance. Cheema asserted that the action is a direct strike against the people of Punjab and a conspiracy to weaken the protections of the Constitution. He noted that the public recognizes these intentions and will continue to reject such measures on Punjab’s soil.

Minister Aman Arora stated that the repeated raids on Sanjeev Arora’s home, including two within the last ten days, characterize a campaign of defamation. He affirmed that the central government should not underestimate the resilience of the state. Arora maintained that while people may be moved by cooperation, they will never submit to a dictatorship, asserting that these methods will eventually prove detrimental to the ruling party at the center.

Other party leaders, including Barinder Goyal and Kuldeep Dhaliwal, noted that the current political environment mirrors historical repression. They stated that the central leadership operates under a mantra where opponents must either join their ranks or face imprisonment. The party questioned why investigative agencies do not look into established political families who have held power for decades, affirming that the selective nature of these probes reveals their true intent.
