CHANDIGARH, MAY 25 — A multi-year evasion of law enforcement ended Tuesday when the Chandigarh Police Economic Offences Wing apprehended Nirpal Singh Bading, an absconding suspect linked to a ₹2.5 crore bank loan fraud.
The arrest follows a formal complaint lodged by management at the Indian Overseas Bank in Sector-26. According to police authorities, Bading collaborated with branch manager Adresh Kumar and co-accused Narendra Singh to secure a ₹2.5 crore loan limit through forged property registries for assets located in Patiala and Rajpura.
“We will take strict action against him in accordance with the law,” affirmed EOW In-charge A. Venkatesh, noting that police operations remain focused on addressing systemic financial crimes.
According to the Economic Offences Wing, the documents presented to the Indian Overseas Bank were high-quality color photocopies of authentic deeds. The legitimate versions of those same registries had previously been used by the suspect to obtain separate loans worth several crores from HDB Financial Services Limited.
Bading successfully avoided law enforcement until a residential raid was executed this week. Local victims of the suspect’s financial operations have publicly appealed to the Chandigarh Police administration to ensure a comprehensive judicial review.
“He will be produced before the court, and the law will take its course,” asserted Investigating Officer Jagpal Singh. “No criminal will be spared.”
The suspect faces an expansive list of active prosecutions throughout Punjab. Court records indicate that judicial institutions in Jalandhar, SAS Nagar, Rajpura, and Kharar have repeatedly classified Bading as a fugitive under Section 174-A of the Indian Penal Code. His wider criminal record spans more than a decade, including an active ₹4 crore embezzlement case in Chhanjali and a prior judicial conviction decided in July 2015.
