Chandigarh, June 5: The BJP is systematically targeting and luring opposition politicians to create a false narrative of growth in Punjab, only to ruthlessly marginalize them once their immediate utility expires, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Harpal Singh Cheema stated Thursday.
The Punjab Finance Minister claimed that the saffron party has established a standard operating procedure of exploiting imported political faces to insulate itself from widespread public resentment in the region. Cheema asserted that this calculated opportunism shows a complete disregard for democratic mandates, core ideologies, and personal loyalty.
“By embracing the BJP, these leaders have not only compromised the interests of Punjab but have willingly walked into a political trap,” Cheema maintained. “BJP’s standard operating procedure is to exploit opposition faces to shield itself from public anger, only to discard them when they are no longer useful.”
The cabinet minister cited Sunil Jakhar and Ravneet Singh Bittu as the most recent examples of individuals caught in what he described as a “use and throw” political cycle. He declared that the strategy is a desperate bid by the BJP to establish a solid foothold in a territory that has traditionally rejected its policies.
“BJP has absolutely no respect for ideology, loyalty, or the mandate of the people,” Cheema stated during the interaction.
According to the AAP leader, the state’s politically aware population easily identifies these shifting allegiances and will not be swayed by artificial party expansion. He noted that the introduction of a few defectors cannot successfully mask policies that run counter to the welfare of Punjab’s residents.
“The brave and politically conscious electorate of Punjab will never forgive those who betray the state’s interests, especially its farmers and youth, just to please their new masters in BJP,” Cheema affirmed.
Cheema concluded by contrasting the political methods of the two organizations, stating that the state government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann would continue to focus its energy on defending the rights and economic prosperity of every Punjabi, rather than engaging in deception and political engineering.
