National Agitation Planned by Congress

Opposition leadership unites on exam rows, inflation, and election disputes

by TheReportingTimes

New Delhi, June 11: The Congress party will hit the streets later this month for a nationwide campaign targeting the central government over rising inflation, recruitment scandals, and alleged systemic flaws in the education system. The planned two-to-three-month public mobilization was finalized during a high-level party meeting that brought together top brass, including general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, K C Venugopal, and Jairam Ramesh.

The core agenda centered heavily on defending democratic systems and contesting recent election developments in Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand. The party is moving ahead with dual legal and political strategies to counter the cancellation of Meenakshi Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination, an administrative decision the party formally labeled “egregious” in a recent petition to the Election Commission.

Addressing the media, K C Venugopal dismissed rumors regarding any potential merger with the Trinamool Congress while turning focus back toward the Rajya Sabha dispute. He noted that the party intends to fight the rejection thoroughly, drawing a stark contrast between the strict disqualification of Natarajan and the acceptance of a rival candidate’s incomplete papers in Jharkhand.

“Today’s meeting discussed the matter in detail. We will fight this issue politically and legally,” Venugopal declared, underlining the leadership’s stance against what they term a subversion of the democratic process.

Expressing his views on the current political landscape, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the nation is grappling with severe challenges, ranging from unemployment and social inequality to widespread exam scandals. He declared that the party’s responsibility extends beyond standard political friction, moving into a broader defense of social justice and constitutional integrity.

The political push comes amid heightened cooperation within the opposition INDIA bloc, following recent consensus among alliance members to demand the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-CBSE controversies. This unified front follows a series of strategic discussions, including a meeting between TMC chief Mamata Banerjee and Sonia Gandhi earlier in the week to solidify opposition coordination.
