Pre-Exam Portal Glitches Cause Stress For Medical Aspirants

Mandatory banking verification step triggers download failures days before nationwide re-test

by TheReportingTimes

New Delhi, June 15: A large section of students preparing for the NEET UG 2026 re-test faced unexpected hurdles due to technical complications on the National Testing Agency’s digital platform. The issues surfaced just as candidates attempted to secure their necessary examination paperwork for the nationwide test.

The primary bottleneck involves a regulatory prerequisite that forces applicants to finalize and validate their banking credentials for fee refunds prior to opening the admit card download link. Student feedback indicated that this specific portal function repeatedly failed, preventing a significant number of candidates from completing their profiles and obtaining their hall tickets.

The testing authority acknowledged the technical friction but affirmed that close to four lakh applicants have already successfully processed their downloads. Officials noted that the technical teams are working continuously to streamline the system, reminding candidates that heavy user volume often creates temporary server blockages during peak hours.

The upcoming test on June 21 serves as a high-stakes second opportunity for selected candidates following the initial May 3 examination, which saw an attendance of about 22.05 lakh students out of 22.75 lakh registered individuals. The afternoon session will run for three hours and fifteen minutes under an offline testing framework.

In light of the past developments, the central government has tightened its oversight on the entire examination infrastructure. Capitalizing on inter-agency readiness, Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan chaired a high-level meeting to review security steps, maintaining that absolute transparency and airtight logistics must be guaranteed across all designated test centers.
